A monthly giving circle can give a madrasah or maktab a more regular source of support. It also creates a continuing responsibility: explain what supporters are funding, keep the payment records clear, and make it straightforward for them to change their plans. Start with a purpose your team can sustain throughout the year.

Give the circle a clear purpose

“Help our maktab every month” is a starting point. “Help cover learning materials and classroom resources throughout the year” gives the donor more context. Choose a purpose approved by your organization, explain which expenses it includes, and describe what you will do if the needs or budget change.

Be careful with amounts attached to outcomes. If you say a monthly gift provides a specific resource, use a real cost calculation and explain whether the gift is restricted to that resource or supports the overall fund. Avoid implying that every $20 gift is assigned to a particular child when the money is pooled.

Plan using commitments and collected money separately

As an illustration, 100 supporters committing $20 a month represent $2,000 in expected monthly gifts. If every payment succeeded for twelve months, that would be $24,000 before fees and refunds. That is a scenario, not a revenue guarantee. Payments may fail, supporters may cancel and collection dates can vary.

Your team should see two different figures: active monthly commitments and donations actually received. Giving labels monthly commitments as expected rather than collected. The distinction helps your school avoid spending money merely because a plan has been created.

Make the recurring choice unmistakable

Supporters should be able to choose a one-time gift or monthly giving deliberately. Show the gift amount, any optional fee contribution and the total recurring payment before checkout. Describe how the donor receives a receipt and how they can manage or cancel the gift.

Giving sends payment receipts for successful gifts and includes private management access for monthly supporters. A donor can give without creating a MarkTrack account. Anonymous public giving keeps the donor’s name off the public feed while preserving a private donor record for the school.

Invite people thoughtfully

Begin with people who already understand your program: families, alumni and community supporters who have agreed to receive relevant updates. Explain why recurring support helps your planning and offer a comfortable range of amounts, including a custom amount. A supporter who chooses a one-time gift is still supporting the school.

Create a simple flyer and a short explanation for the school newsletter. Keep the recurring option visible on the campaign page, and make sure your volunteers know how to explain it. Read the AI press-kit guide for a practical way to prepare the material.

Build a routine the office can maintain

  • Review collected donations and unsuccessful attempts regularly.
  • Keep donor contact corrections and private management requests in the proper support flow.
  • Respect communication preferences and cancellation requests.
  • Share useful program updates without publicly naming anonymous supporters.
  • Revisit the purpose and budget before making another annual appeal.

Giving brings this work into a separate fundraising workspace connected to the MarkTrack account your administrators already use. Its standard platform fee is 3% plus processing; fee coverage is optional. Giving is currently waitlist-only. The planned first release supports US organizations collecting USD.

A strong giving circle is more than a recurring checkout option. It is a promise that your school will keep supporters informed and treat their ongoing generosity with care.
