If your Islamic school is choosing between Zeffy and MarkTrack Giving, start with the clearest difference: Zeffy’s nonprofit pricing is difficult to beat. Giving’s main advantage is its connection to the school system your team already uses. We make Giving, and we think that choice deserves an honest explanation.

Zeffy’s zero-fee model is a real advantage

Zeffy says eligible nonprofits pay neither platform nor processing fees. Donors may contribute separately to support Zeffy, and the organization still receives its intended gift when a donor declines that contribution. Those terms are published on Zeffy’s pricing page, checked October 1, 2026.

A school comparing platforms should not treat that as an insignificant difference. Keeping more of each gift can matter more than convenience, especially for a volunteer-run maktab. Check the current eligibility requirements for your organization before building a campaign.

Giving charges a fee for the connected workflow

Giving’s standard platform fee is 3% of the intended gift, plus payment processing. On $10,000 in intended gifts, the platform portion is $300. Processing is additional. If supporters do not choose fee coverage, costs reduce the amount available to your organization. This makes Giving more expensive than Zeffy for an eligible nonprofit absorbing its costs.

Supporters can voluntarily help cover fees. The donation form shows the extra amount and final total before checkout, and the option starts unchecked. The additional contribution helps with costs; it does not make the service’s underlying fee disappear.

MarkTrack’s market research suggests around 70% of donors choose to help cover fees. This is a research estimate; results vary by campaign. Build your campaign budget around a conservative assumption, then use actual donation records to see what supporters chose.

What you gain when your school already uses MarkTrack

Your administrators keep their MarkTrack credentials. Giving opens from Billing, knows the organization and its schools, and respects the team’s existing access. An organization admin can work across schools; a school-limited admin stays within the appropriate workspace. Giving uses the existing eligible Stripe connection after readiness checks.

That connection matters when the person running the fundraiser also handles enrollment, family questions and school administration. The school can keep its existing access structure and give fundraising its own space. Donor records remain separate from student records, and a donation does not settle a family’s tuition invoice.

The other practical benefit is promotion. Giving creates a campaign press kit with printable flyers, QR material, social images and a short animated video. AI helps draft campaign email and social copy. Your team still checks the wording and chooses where to share it. See the press-kit workflow for the current capabilities.

Try this decision exercise with your office team

Choose one upcoming fundraiser and write down everything needed to launch it. Include account setup, access for staff, the donation page, promotion, donor follow-up and reporting. Test the same brief in both tools. Record which steps your team understands immediately and which need support.

Then compare that experience with the actual fee difference. Avoid inventing an hourly saving to justify software you prefer. If your team is happy maintaining a separate fundraising system, Zeffy’s economics may make it the better option. If MarkTrack integration and an integrated press kit remove work your team struggles to complete, Giving may earn its fee.

Our recommendation

Consider Zeffy first when minimizing organizational fees is the priority and your organization qualifies. Consider Giving when your US school already uses MarkTrack and wants a connected way to launch and manage campaigns. Giving is currently waitlist-only. Existing MarkTrack accounts cannot access Giving or activate donations until we open access.
